In 2016, Google launched a click-to-message extension that allows consumers to text a business directly from an AdWords mobile ad.

When a mobile visitor taps the message extension, the user’s default texting app opens, with the business’s text-enabled phone number and message text pre-populated.

This tool opens an exciting new channel that engages the growing number of consumers who want to connect with a business without calling or being placed on hold.
