The station’s newest show, TAKE 5, launches today and utilizes Zipwhip’s cloud-based business texting software so viewers can text with co-hosts live
SEATTLE – April 16, 2018 – Zipwhip, the original cloud software platform for two-way business texting, and KING 5, the Pacific Northwest’s leading television news station, partner today to provide live viewer engagement through texting for its newest show, TAKE 5. The show launches today on KING 5 at 4 p.m.
The program aims to inform and inspire Northwest audiences through a blend of traditional news reporting and casual conversation. As part of that mission, the four co-hosts will engage in real-time texting conversations with viewers at home. Zipwhip’s software will enable the co-hosts to field and respond to SMS or MMS texts that come into the show’s landline phone number: (206) 448-4545.
“KING 5 is proud to partner with Zipwhip to enhance the viewing experience for TAKE 5. Our viewers can now quickly and easily text with our TAKE 5 team via our normal business number, fully participating in the conversation,” said Jay Yovanovich, KING 5 Director of Marketing.
Zipwhip allows businesses of all kinds to text with their existing landline, VoIP or toll-free phone number. As opposed to short-code texting, Zipwhip’s software enables conversational, two-way texting conversations.
“Texting is the most natural way for audiences to connect with the shows they love – all they need is the phone already in their pocket,” said John Lauer, CEO of Zipwhip. “We’re looking forward to helping the KING 5 team engage with viewers on the medium of their choice. The short-format, high-priority nature of texting makes it a great fit for news organizations looking for real-time audience engagement and participation.”
TAKE 5 airs every weekday from 4-5 p.m. PDT on KING 5. Viewers can text into the show any time at (206) 448-4545.
