A little gratitude can go a long way. Did you know that it has been scientifically proven to help improve a person’s overall health and mindset?
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” – William Arthur Ward
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, it’s even more timely for us to recognize all the things that our team is thankful for this year. Just to name a few, we appreciate the Seattle startup community that has embraced Zipwhip, and the investors that have believed in us throughout our journey – helping us raise millions of dollars in funding to develop an invaluable technology for the world.
But we also want to show thanks for some of the unseen players behind Zipwhip’s success. There’s one person in particular that has truly gone above and beyond his call of duty to help Zipwhip’s internal operations go smoothly and make our entire staff feel at home. His name is Matt Slinger, he’s our office manager, and he has managed to captivate the hearts and minds of the entire team.
If you were to walk into Zipwhip’s office today, Matt would be the first person that you’d see. You would be greeted with a smile, offered a beverage and entertained with a joke. Upon walking into the kitchen, you’d notice how beautifully clean and stocked it is with mugs and coffee because 1) we’re a start up in Seattle (duh!), and 2) Matt always keeps it that way. When he cleans out the fridges, he even washes out everyone’s Tupperware dishes for them, a task that most people don’t even like doing in their own homes. Kitchen help aside, he’s not your average office manager, as he has a number of other HR and finance-related tasks to keep him busy and the rest of our team in line. He’s also a mentor for many that are just looking for a shoulder to lean on or an ear to get guidance from.
We wanted to tell Matt how much he means to us because it’s easy for the little things to go unnoticed. We want him to know that he is a “sung hero,” and that we have gratitude for all that he does. Below is a reaction video of Matt reading thank you notes from the rest of the Zipwhip team.
Is there anyone in your life that you’re grateful for, or that’s simply on your mind? Telling them could bring you joy and potentially be the highlight of their day. You don’t have to invest too much time or money on stamps to communicate with others. In just a few swipes on your phone, you can text friends, family and acquaintances important messages of gratitude.
We should all be more proactive in expressing gratitude to the people around us. So the next time you are feeling thankful for someone, shoot them a text and let them know.
