The National Sports Forum (NSF) is almost here! We’ll be there, will you? Heading into its 23rd year, NSF is one of the largest annual conferences for professionals in the sports industry representing a broad spectrum of teams, leagues, agencies and corporate partners (i.e. NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS, Minor Leagues, Racing, Colleges, etc.). This will be Zipwhip’s third year in attendance, largely because of the growing trend for sports teams to communicate more directly with fans – via texting.
A look back at our experiences at NSF
Back in 2016, we competed in NSF’s “Tech Tank” where companies essentially pitched their business or product to a world-class panel of experts in their respective category. This was considered the Shark Tank of the sports industry and has since become an annual event for tech and sports enthusiasts to gain recognition for their business ideas.
Zipwhip presented business texting as a viable solution to help sports teams communicate better with their fans, and we ended up winning the Ticket Sales & Strategy category. At that time, Zipwhip was working with five professional sports teams and one collegiate team.
Because of our success from the Tech Tank, we gained some real visibility in the sports industry, especially in MLS soccer. In 2017, Chris Wilson of the Portland Timbers gave a presentation at NSF about the benefits of implementing Zipwhip business texting into the team’s Sales and Service departments. Today, more than 75 collegiate and professional sports teams are using Zipwhip’s texting software to help make their conversations more personal.
